Junior Test Engineer

The Job Role

A talented and self-motivated Junior Test Engineer is required by an ambitious, high-growth technology SME, specialising in delivering Digital Solutions for Rail, based from Home/Lichfield (Staffordshire UK). This is a great opportunity for a Graduate or someone early in their career to join this passionate and supportive team and make a real difference. Working cross-functionally alongside Test Engineer and Software Development colleagues, you’ll have the opportunity to gain valuable experience across a range of innovation and digital transformation projects.

Key Skills Required:

  • Tech Savvy with a passion for modern technologies, innovation and the transformative power of ‘Digital’
  • A real eye for detail, excellent problem solving skills and systematic in approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – ability to develop positive business relationships internally and externally
  • Personal accountability and organisation – capable of multitasking and managing time effectively

Nice to Have:

  • Previous experience of manual QA and testing of web or mobile applications
  • Knowledge of C# and querying SQL/Non SQL databases
  • Familiarity with test automation suites such a Selenium or Playwright
  • Experience with working with APIs from a test perspective
  • Working in an agile manner.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain Test Plans and strategies.
  • Systematically detect and analyse system defects and collaborate with the development team to resolve.
  • Report bugs and issues to the development teams in a clear, concise manner, working collaboratively to ensure solutions are performant and bug free.
  • Manual QA and testing of mobile and web applications to ensure it meets acceptance criteria. Opportunity to develop Test Automation competence.

*Typically there is a requirement to get together nominally 1 day/week (Wednesday) in Lichfield, Staffs to collaborate on projects and support client visits as required, so the ability to travel within the UK and have a clean/valid UK driving license is essential.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
